Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure and characteristics of personality-based contraceptive attitudes
of male college students¡¯. A Q-methodology was used to identify the factors influencing personality-based contraceptive attitudes of male college students. The 32 selected Q-samples from each of the 30 subjects were transformed into a normal distribution by using a 9-point scale. The data collected were analyzed using a QUANL PC program. Three types of contraceptive attitudes were identified among the students. These types labeled as follows: ¡®practical norm type¡¯, ¡®focus on sexual pleasure type¡¯ and ¡®pursuit of information type¡¯. These study results suggest that sexual health education for promotion of contraceptive behavior should focus on the factors influencing the contraceptive attitudes. In addition, efficient
contraception should be educated by conducting continuous qualitative research based on contraceptive experiences
of college students.
